OFSTED agreed that “at the heart of the school's vision is a commitment to include all students in the life of the school” and that "the curriculum successfully motivates students" (May 2008). At King's Manor we believe that all pupils have an entitlement to study a broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to develop their own leadership skills and take responsibility for their own learning and take an active part in the wider school community. When students join the school they are placed in a tutor group within 1 of the 4 Houses - Adventure, Discovery, Endeavour and Resolution. Tutor groups are made up of students of all ability levels from various primary schools. For some subjects these groups are also teaching groups. For other subjects, the students follow their own individual timetables and their teaching groups will partly depend upon the subjects they have chosen. Unless requested otherwise, we normally place siblings in the same house.
In years 7-9 pupils study Mathematics, English, Science, Drama, Humanities (History and Geography), RE, ICT, Music, French/German, PE, Technology, and Art. In years 10/11 students follow an examination programme made up of a combination of GCSE's. Applied GCSE's and BTEC diplomas.
